I have been setting appointments with potential partners for the project for the past 3 months. Most of them were negative, some were unresponsive, but many gave positive vibes and support towards the project.

Our first month of planning in June 2018 was the most crucial month for me since I had to analyze and form the important relationships and foundations of the project. I was able to talk to our local government officials during that time and they pledged their support for the project. We successfully fundraised from July to September!”

Overcoming Doubts & Fears:

“Our target start date for the project construction is October 2018. For me it’s really thrilling and there’s a lot going on in my mind like, ‘How could these months go so fast? What if I fail to raise the amount needed? What if I fail the beneficiaries?’ Despite those thoughts, there’s still a voice in my head that says, ‘there’s no room for negativity here’ and that’s when I grab my computer again and start sending emails and text messages to potential supporters, so I can make sure this project comes to life.”

Embracing Every Opportunity:

“The Purpose Project: Aklatan ni Juan has already taught me a lot of things. It’s fueled my passion and rekindled my eagerness to make a difference in my community. The fact that I must raise a big amount of money, which I haven’t done before, is a big challenge for me. My personality has always been a person of silent actions, but the Purpose Project made me break my introvert side and embrace every opportunity I get to talk with people or organizations for the sake of the project.

Greenheart encouraged me to go beyond the limit, get out of the box, and reach for bigger projects that would help a larger number of people. It wasn’t easy. There were multiple times when my mind said that this project is unattainable, but every time I thought about the other 5 members of the Alumni Council and told myself that if those people can create change then I can too.”

We are even stronger when we work together.
